General Wheel Bearing Info:

I wanted to share some information about wheel bearings. The original wheel bearings will last the longest, it is not because they are better than any other it is simply because they were installed correctly.

We have had customers who have tried all aftermarket brands of bearings, stock bearings and even cross referenced bearings and none have held up like the original set. Why?

The main reason is you can not install them perfectly straight like the factory can. I know you can install them so the axle will go thru but that is not straight enough. The manufacturer of the vehicle has a machine that will perfectly install them. You and I will beat them in, press them in etc.

At first I thought it might be the brand we sell but after two different guys told me of their experiences with all brands and it came out the same it got me to thinking.

The HD spindles we sell for the Rhino only come with bearings and seals installed, I asked why and they said cause you can't get them in straight enough. I asked if this was why people has such issues with new bearings and they yes.

What is happening is, the bearings are in slightly canted and the bearing is running with a side load which creates heat which breaks down the seal then dirt enters and so on.

So why am I telling you this? Two reasons, one I don't want you to think the brand we sell or any other brand is better or worse than the other and two, armed with this information you will pay closer attention to the install and try harder to get them as straight as you can.

Since I have not installed any bearings in after being armed with this info, I have not devised a poor boys way of installing them straight.

At least you will know.

Thanks,

Todd
